Hi again and thanks to all who have joined in this Kickstarter. I'm one of the co-authors of Splinters of Faith, and I wanted to share some of the different adventures found in this collected edition of the Frog God Games' classic.
Together, the 11 adventures are designed to play as a single, long campaign. However, each chapter is also its own adventure set in various environments. So if you don't want to play a massive campaign, you can instead pick and choose the adventures to fit your campaign's setting and environment.
This will be a big book, I'm sure of that. We won't know how big until layout is finished and if the additional add-on stretch goals are met and included (I'm personally hoping that the Acid Swamp of the Demon Prince makes it in, as the idea behind that one is a unique setting and good wrap-up for the adventure; C'mon, $50k!)
I'm including approximate starting levels, although these can vary a little based on the system (5e or OSR).
Adventure 1: It Started with a Chicken (1st to 3rd levels)
This is a low-level (1st) adventure begins the campaign as the characters track down missing chickens in a very, VERY small village. However, there's a lost tomb of undead nearby that characters are likely to stumble upon when they are chasing down those lost chickens. This is set in the small village overseen by the a one-man church called Poverty's Bethel.
Adventure 2: Burning Desires (2nd to 4th levels)
This adventure takes place in the above-ground dwarven village of Anvil Plunge, which sits on the edge of the Sin Mire Swamp (a swamp currently expanding yearly due to an unchecked decanter of endless water inside the main temple). A different dwarven relic was recently stolen and taken into the swamp by Trawla of the Sin Mire, who intends to destroy it to further her own temple to her evil goddess. Characters are going to have to track down the thief in the mire.
Adventure 3: Culvert Operations (3rd to 5th levels)
The city of Bargarsport is built on the ruins of a city consumed by a deadly tsunami. But that doesn't mean that the sewers are empty. Many beings live beneath the streets. Bargarsport is a den of villainy, a place where you need to watch your back. But also keep an eye on the ground, as things exist below that are all to happy to snatch you away into the dark depths. This is a city adventure in a seedy setting, with a whole new world underfoot.
Adventure 4: For the Love of Chaos (4th to 6th levels)
The Hanging Gardens of Iseleine sit atop a natural stone column a quarter mile above a lush garden hidden in a canyon. The gardens are beautiful and the setting serene. But darker shadows are moving in the Garden Below, tainting the place with their touch. Once tame animals run wildly about, not caring if they attack friend or foe. What madness has overwhelmed the serenity? Guess who gets to go find out.
Adventure 5: Soul of Glass (5th to 7th levels)
This brand-new adventure in the Splinters of Faith campaign involves a haunted manor house owned by a researcher fascinated by the history of the War of Divine Discord (a main point for the larger adventure). However, on one trip, his daughter was kidnapped and he spent the rest of his life -- and now his death -- mourning her memory. The manor house has sat abandoned for years, but it contains a trove of information and rumored treasure for any who can brave the restless spirits within. Random event tables are presented to randomize ghostly hauntings that occur in nearly every room, and additional events and cinematic abilities (such as bleeding walls and ghostly chills) are presented to enhance the ghosts within.
I'm going to pause here at the halfway point in the adventures, but I'll post another update soon on the remainder of the book's adventures. Hope this was insightful, and ask away if you have questions.
Thanks again,
Jeff Harkness
